REVIEW by Elwyn Lynn, THE AUSTRALIAN, Weekend Review section, May 22-23, 1993, Holdsworth Galleries

Cynthia Breusch presents fine paintings of sensitive heads half in shadow and half in hope in poetically quiet backgrounds.  She can exact tenderness without exaggeration.

REVIEW /8, ARTS, by Elwyn Lynn, The WEEKEND AUSTRALIAN, January 18-19, 1992.

What a sensitive, quiet, restrained artist is Cynthia Breusch, with 23 paintings and mixed media works at Holdsworth Galleries. Influenced by the resonant romanticism of Charles Blackman, she can give mystery and fleeting significance to the most mundane, as in Boys with String with fine control of silhouettes. Even the darkest works have an engaging luminosity and richness of seductive hues. The floating rhythms in For Mozart emphasise how cohesively rhythmical her works are and what radiance they can engage.
